BMX World Championship launched

The Metropolitan Municipality of Sakarya has introduced the BMX World Championship, Sakarya MTB Cup and Mountain Bike Marathon Series, which will be held on October 23-31 in Ayçiçeği Bicycle Valley in Sakarya, where 200 athletes from many countries will participate in. The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Sakarya, Ekrem Yüce, the President of Turkish Cycling Federation Erol Küçükbakırcı, the World Cycling Union Representative Ferhad Aliyev and many sports fans attended the ceremony held in the Ayçiçeği Cycling Valley. The launching started with the shows in which cyclists and skaters took the stage and their acrobatic movements were appreciated by the audience.

The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Sakarya, Ekrem Yüce stated that sports events are very valuable for them and said, “We produce our projects in partnership with international cycling organizations. We will also host the BMX World Championship which we are most excited about.”


“Sakarya will be the heart of cycling”

Emphasizing that Sakarya will become a real city of cycling with the projects to be implemented in the upcoming period, Ekrem Yüce said, “We produce many projects about cycling in cooperation with international bicycle organizations. Last year, we undertook the Presidential Cycling Tour and the 2020 Mountain Cycling World Marathon Championship in Ayçiçeği Cycling Valley. This year, a stage of the MTB Marathon Series will be ridden here. Apart from that, Sakarya MTB Cup will be held here again. Finally, we will host the BMX World Championship, which we are most excited about. Apart from championships and competitions, Sakarya will truly become a ‘City of Cycling’ in autumn with festivals, expositions and various events. Sakarya will be the heartbeat of cycling in 2021. We would like to see you in these long-term and exciting events. I wish the world championship, championship races, festivals and expositions to be pleasant.”


“The importance given to cycling is increasing day by day”

Expressing that the importance of cycling continues to increase, the President of Turkish Cycling Federation, Erol Küçükbakırcı said:
“The importance and value of the bicycle continue to increase day by day. Cycling has become a way of life. You live as long as you stand, and you can stay on the bike as long as you pedal. You must cycle every day. In this sense, Sakarya is one of the cities that give importance to cycling. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organizations in this process.”
